The Forbidden Door card has been finalised following last night’s Dynamite, with the addition of Shingo Takagi, Hiromu Takahashi, and several more New Japan talents!
The much-anticipated AEWxNJPW Forbidden Door goes down this weekend from Chicago’s United Center, with Jon Moxley and Hiroshi Tanahashi’s planned match over the interim AEW World Championship the biggest fight on offer. After last night’s AEW Dynamite, however, a plethora of matches – and NJPW stars – have been added alongside it.
Unquestionably the biggest addition came in the form of Kazuchika Okada. The legendary New Japan grappler came to the aid of ‘Hangman’ Adam Page; along with Adam Cole, they’ll challenge Jay White for the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship in the other featured attraction for the evening.
Los Ingobernables de Japan will be represented in the form of Shingo Takagi and Hiromu Takahashi. Together, ‘The Dragon’ and ‘The Ticking Time Bomb’ will assist Darby Allin and Sting to combat the Bullet Club quartet of El Phantasmo, Hikuleo, and, for one night only, The Young Bucks.
In singles competition, the AEW debut of Zack Sabre Jr. will see the recent New Japan Cup victor head into Forbidden Door to face the unknown. ZSJ was due to battle Bryan Danielson, but an injury has ruled ‘The American Dragon’ out of competition. Sabre Jr. will instead face the mysterious new member of Blackpool Combat Club.
The final New Japan addition to the Forbidden Door card comes via the Buy-In. Here, The Acclaimed’s Max Caster will continue his association with Gunn Club as they go to battle with four prospects from New Japan’s LA Dojo; Yuya Uemura, Alex Coughlin, Kevin Knight, and The DKC.
