Shelton Benjamin Shoots Down Release Rumours

Shelton Benjamin

Former Raw Tag Team Champion Shelton Benjamin has spoken out following rumours online saying that he had been released from his WWE contract.

Shelton Benjamin burst onto the WWE scene alongside Charlie Haas as Team Angle in early 2003. A month after the pair debuted they captured gold when they won the WWE Tag Team Championship.

Solo success came for Shelton Benjamin on Raw when the team went their separate ways and The Gold Standard found more gold as he captured the Intercontinental Championship as well.

Benjamin left WWE in the spring of 2010 only to return seven years later to form a new tag team with Chad Gable. Although that team never won gold, Shelton Benjamin hit pay dirt once again when he teamed with Cedric Alexander as part of The Hurt Business as they won the Raw Tag Team Championship in December 2020.

Now Benjamin has taken to social media to dispel errant reports on Twitter that his time in WWE had once again come to an end and he couldn’t help but take a jab at close friend and former WWE Superstar Mia Yim as he did so:

“I have not been released from WWE. I obviously don’t know where this false report started (probably @MiaYim) but for those that cared thank you but at this time your concerns are premature.”

Benjamin and Alexander are still a regularly featured team on Monday Night Raw with the pair recently coming up short in a bout with The Mysterios, just two weeks after they defeated the father and son team.
