Throughout 2021 WWE have released numerous Superstars, including some big names, but despite the changes Sheamus says that the atmosphere backstage remains positive.
Speaking to Ryan Satin on his Out Of Character podcast, the United States Champion said that while he has seen a lot of friends leave, there’s a “good vibe” in the locker room. Sheamus adds that there’s a lot of talent in the company right now and that the future looks bright.
“I said a while ago, talking about releases, no one ever wants to see releases and I lost a lot of friends, and I said the atmosphere is good. ‘Obviously, Sheamus is lying because how can the atmosphere be good.’ The truth of the matter is, it is good. The lads have a crack, a joke, they rib each other. We’re all slagging each other off. It’s a good vibe and a lot of good lads in the locker room. The future is bright for the company and there’s a lot of talent. The guys coming in now, and the girls, are super talented. Look at Nikki Cross winning the Women’s Title. No one deserves that more than her. She’s been up, she’s been down, super nice and super genuine. She works her ass off and has embraced herself with this character,”
However, following Bray Wyatt’s departure from the company on July 31st, things appear to be a little more fragile. In the aftermath of Wyatt’s departure a report from Fightful suggested that some backstage were worried about their own job security after seeing such a high-profile star leave.
Sheamus won the United States Championship from Riddle at WrestleMania 37 in April. After feuding with the likes of Humberto Carrillo, who broke the Irishman’s nose, and Ricochet, the former WWE Champion appears to have a new challenger.
On the July 26th edition of RAW Sheamus was defeated by Damian Priest, who now heads the queue of contenders coming for the United States belt.
On the most recent episode of the red brand, Sheamus and John Morrison were defeated by Priest and Ricochet in tag team action.
