Sheamus Gets Honest About The Moment That Almost Ended His Career
Last month, during an interview with Robert Jackman of Yahoo Sports,Sheamus spoke honestly about the possible repercussions of his neck injury, which had even sparked considerations of retirement.
Every time I go into that ring, I want to prove that I still belong,” he said. “I want to show I can still rile up the crowd and get the fans invested in my matches. Two years ago I took a bad fall [in a match against Edge], and I wondered if I would ever step into a ring again. So now every match I have is like a bonus. That’s why I want to make sure I give the crowd every last penny’s worth this Sunday.”
The injury seemingly took place during his match against the former Edge (aka Adam Copeland) in 2023, which also happened to be the Hall of Famer’s final WWE match, before he switched promotions to AEW.
A few days ago, Sheamus also took the credit for creating one of the greatest wrestling match stipulations in the company’s history.
