Sheamus Calls Out Manchester United Legend Cristiano Ronaldo – He Has “No Physicality”

Sheamus & Cristiano Ronaldo

Cristiano Ronaldo might be one of the most famous people on the planet, and one of the greatest football players in history, but none of that seems to have impressed WWE star Sheamus.

Since making his first-team debut for Sporting Lisbon back in September 2002, Ronaldo has won pretty much everything that there is to win. As well as numerous domestic and European honours across spells with Manchester United, Real Madrid and Juventus, the Portuguese star has also racked up a remarkable collection of individual records. Ronaldo has scored more goals in official senior competitions than anyone else, the most international goals in history, as well as being Real Madrid’s record goal scorer.

Cristiano Ronaldo “Wouldn’t Last Five Minutes” In The Ring – Sheamus

However, all of these accolades aren’t enough to impress former WWE World Champion Sheamus. The Irish star, and famous Liverpool fan, suggested back in 2021 that Ronaldo lacks physicality and “absolutely” isn’t one of the greatest players ever.

During an interview with BT Sport, Sheamus said that Ronaldo is too keen to make everything about him, while adding that he’s too soft to get into the ring.

“Is Ronaldo one of the greatest players ever? Absolutely not, he’s not,” he said. “But he’s definitely a world-class player and one of the best that’s been in the last decade.

“But even if he scores a penalty he’s all about the camera mate, you know what I mean? Shirt off, ‘where’s the camera?’ Even if he scores a penalty. I’m not knocking the guy or hating on him, but he knows exactly what he is doing.”

Sheamus also scoffed at suggestions that Ronaldo’s arrogance and over the top personality could see him thrive in the wrestling world.

“He wouldn’t last five seconds in the ring,” he said. “He’s too soft, he’s too soft bro. Those players that go down when the wind blows or a blade of grass hits their shin, they wouldn’t last two minutes.”

Cristiano Ronaldo has found himself back in the headlines in November 2022 following an explosive interview with Piers Morgan. Ronaldo hit out at Manchester United manager Eric Ten Hag and former United star Wayne Rooney. He claimed that he had been “betrayed” by United and that people within the club are trying to force him out.
