At SummerSlam 2023, Shayna Baszler defeated Ronda Rousey in her last WWE match.
The two former UFC stars met in a MMA Rules match, which saw Baszler win the match by referee stoppage after 7 minutes.
The fighters had been feuding when Bazsler shockingly attacked her partner costing them the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships in the process. Following the double-cross Baszler constantly ridiculed Rousey in promos saying that she was the one who brought her into WWE and she will be the one to take her out, which she did in Detriot on August 5th.
Unfortunately for the performers and those watching the match didn’t live up to expectations and is memorable only for its poor quality and lack of excitement. But in a recent interview, Baszler revealed that the venue hampered her and her opponent in what they wanted to achieve.
Speaking to Fightful, the former MMA fighter said the following:
“I won’t lie, the idea we had, we were a little bit handcuffed just based on the venue. There was no tron, so we knew the people in-house were going to have trouble maybe understanding some of the stuff because you need a camera and a close up of that.
We couldn’t get a cage or a fight pit in there because of the rigging in a dome situation is totally different. There was a lot. We tried to work out some other things, it just didn’t work out. We did the best we could with what we had. I’m proud of it.”
Ronda Rousey hasn’t held back when speaking about her time in WWE
Since leaving the company The Baddest Woman On The Planet has released an autobiography, which pulls no punches when revealing her true feelings about her time in the company.
Rousey has blasted the company’s “Casting Couch Culture” while calling John Laurinaitis a “all-round dirtbag” and ‘entitled 60-year-old former frat boy.” She also didn’t hold back when talking about her interactions with Bruce Prichard.
