Shawn Spears Makes His Return To AEW On Dynamite

Shawn Spears

Shawn Spears made his return to All Elite Wrestling on Dynamite – helping his mentor Tully Blanchard and FTR defeat Jurassic Express.

Spears had not been seen in AEW since the 23rd of December episode of Dynamite. In that appearance, he would have a sit-down interview backstage with AEW announcer Tony Schiavone. Spears would complain about his lack of use in the company before walking out stating that he would come back if and when he felt like it. Spears’ profile on AEW’s website was removed following this interview.

Tully Blanchard and FTR have been engaged in a feud with Luchasaurus, Jungle Boy, and Marko Stunt for months now. Jungle Boy defeated Dax Harwood in a singles match, submitting him with his ‘snare trap’ hold. Following that Blanchard and Cash Wheeler would attack Jurassic Express, ultimately cutting the horns of Luchasaurus’ mask.

Tully Blanchard would team with FTR in a six-man tag team match. Blanchard’s last match before this was nearly fourteen years ago when he faced-off with Dustin Rhodes.

The three men were joined for the match by Tully’s former Four Horsemen manager JJ Dillon. As the match progressed, a masked and hooded figure posing as an AEW crewmember would nail Luchasaurus with a camera. That allowed Blanchard and FTR to hit a spike piledriver, with Tully claiming the pinfall.

As the trio and Dillon celebrated in the ring, the hooded man would join them and reveal himself as Spears. Shawn Spears had been aligned with Blanchard since his early days in the company where he feuded with Cody Rhodes. Spears would announce himself to the AEW audience at 2019’s Fyter Fest by nailing Cody with a vicious chair shot to the head.
