Triple H isn’t the only D-Generation X man to receive an internal WWE promotion, as Shawn Michaels has moved up the WWE ladder as well!
WWE’s behind-the-scenes team has undergone a massive shift over the past few weeks following the retirement of Vince McMahon and the termination of John Laurinaitis. Although Stephanie McMahon, Nick Khan, and Paul ‘Triple H’ Levesque’s new roles have been well documented, Shawn Michaels now has a new role too.
‘The Heartbreak Kid’ was noted in the press release for NXT Europe as being the company’s Vice President of Talent Development Creative. Shawn Michaels had previously been referred to as the Vice President of Talent Development.
It’s unknown, exactly, what the new role entails for the two-time WWE Hall of Famer, but he’ll have a considerably major role in the future of the NXT brands.

Following his retirement in March 2010, Shawn Michaels made sporadic appearances on WWE programming until becoming a WWE Performance Center trainer in 2016, reportedly helping train the finishing classes alongside Terry Taylor. Later, Michaels became a writer and producer, working under his DX comrade.
This has made Shawn Michaels synonymous with NXT. Alongside making a handful of appearances on the brand itself, ‘The Showstopper’ also took over the running of the former black-and-gold brand when it became NXT 2.0 last September. Triple H, who at the time ran NXT, suffered a “cardiac event”, leading to Shawn leading the charge.
