Chris Jericho recalled Shawn Michaels’ strong reaction when a certain executive called him out for going over their time in a match.

At WrestleMania 19, Chris Jericho and Shawn Michaels faced off in a match that became an all-time classic. As part of The Jericho Chronicles tour of the UK, Chris Jericho spoke to Inside the Ropes’ own Kenny McIntosh about that bout, revealing that it went longer than originally planned (via Talk is Jericho).

“Now, once again, if you know anything about WrestleMania, I think you guys know some more than you did when he walked in here, there’s certain matches that have the spotlight. That is the main event matches, there’s the Jericho Shawn Michaels that are given, you know, 30 minutes, whatever it may be. Actually can I tell you one more thing with Shawn Michaels match? We had gone four minutes too long. In that match with Shawn, we were supposed to have 25 [minutes], we went 29.”

Continuing, Jericho recalled that Michaels didn’t take kindly to being told the match went too long when the two had put on such a stellar performance.

“We came through the gorilla position and Johnny Ace was standing there. Johnny goes ‘You guys with four minutes too long.’ And Shawn said, ‘When you have a five star match, you can tell me how f*cking long the match is. Until then shut your f*cking mouth.’ I was like that’s my HBK! There’s the arrogant asshole Shawn that we all know and love.”

Elsewhere on the show, Jericho spoke about when he realized it was time to leave WWE and also spoke about his WrestleMania 2000 bout being his least favorite.
