Shawn Michaels has teased big things for the future of WWE NXT.
The Tuesday night show has returned to its glory days once more following the critically panned 2.0 era and has seen a resurgence in ratings and a lucrative deal with the CW Network later in the year. Along with developing rookies into future World Champions on the main roster, the show has also seen the return of some familiar faces from the main roster and shock arrivals from AEW.
The newsworthy moments continued on the May 28th episode with Sexyy Red making multiple appearances and the shock arrival of TNA Knockouts Champion Jordynne Grace. According to Michaels, things are just getting started.
Appearing on KTNV Channel 13 in Las Vegas ahead of Battleground on June 9th, The Heartbreak Kid hyped the upcoming Premium Live Event while also hinting that more unexpected announcements are to come:
“Well look, obviously a lot of those decisions get made by people above me. But look, I have no doubt that there’s gonna be some very exciting announcements coming down the pipe, let’s put it that way. I will say this, again, it comes back to wanting to entertain the people that do this and you just said it, for fans, we have wanted A, B, and C for so long. I don’t know.
I guess with those of us that get to do this behind the scenes, those are things that we’ve wanted to see, why not see if we can bring you guys one of these things you’ve been looking for. Obviously a very exciting time to be a wrestling fan and we’ll see how much of it culminates Battleground on June 9, I’m sure a lot of things are going to be going on that night, so I wouldn’t miss it.”
Shawn Michaels Details NXT’s Signing Strategy
Unlike previous signees who were unknown in the wrestling world, recent arrivals on the brand are known to fans of AEW and former Stardom Champion Giulia was spotted in the crowd at NXT Stand & Deliver ahead of her anticipated debut. In a separate interview, Shawn Michaels explained what they were looking for when it came to signing NXT talent.
H/t to Fightful.
