NXT could soon be traveling outside of Florida again, this according to Shawn Michaels, who says that is the plan of WWE, at least for the developmental brand’s Premium Live Events. The “Heartbreak Kid” says WWE is currently in the process of trying to figure what’s the best possible way to do things.
Ever since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, NXT has been restricted mainly to the WWE Performance Center in Orlando. NXT did all their Stand & Deliver Premium Live Event in Texas back in April, however, it was just one appearance outside of The Sunshine State. With NXT Worlds Collide and In Your House, both shows were held in Orlando, with Halloween Havoc also being at the Performance Center.
Shawn Michaels And WWE Want NXT Back On The Road
The WWE Senior Vice President of Talent Development Creative, Shawn Michaels, recently made an appearance on TV Insider for an interview with Scott Fishman, and “HBK” was questioned about whether or not the gold, black and white brand will have a show outside of the Performance Center in the future.
Shawn Michaels brought up Stand & Deliver and how it was held outside of Florida, and then proceeded to say that WWE, led by Triple H, has plans for NXT to travel in the future. He said talks are already underway for it to happen, and that NXT’s talent needs to travel anyways as part of their development.
“Absolutely. As you mentioned, we started with the Florida loop, or the coconut loop, as we call them. We’ve briefly discussed getting out for our premium live events. Do we want to do that at the end of the year or start at the beginning of the new year? We had Stand & Deliver for WrestleMania weekend, which is the first time many of our talents were out of the Performance Center. It’s certainly something we want to get back to.
We have every intention of doing that. We’re actually having talks on how we want to go about executing that. This will go beyond shows in the state of Florida for certainly premium live events but regular live events. As you know, that is part of the developmental process. They have to get out there and perform on the main roster all around the world. They might as well get their feet wet in NXT.”
