Shawn Michaels – “Everyone Here Misses Triple H Unbelievably”

Shawn Michaels has opened up about attempting to fill in for Triple H on NXT describing his task as “impossible.”

Triple H has been absent from WWE and his role at the helm of NXT since undergoing surgery in September for a “cardiac event.” WWE’s Executive Vice President, Global Talent Strategy & Development has since said that he’s “recovering well” but it yet to return to work.

While Triple H recuperates, his role within NXT has been filled by his long-time friend Shawn Michaels.

Speaking to Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated, Michaels said that it’s “impossible” to step into his friend’s role, adding that everyone in NXT misses him “unbelievably.”

“Trying to step in and fill his role is impossible to do,”

“Everybody here misses him unbelievably, especially me. But I always go back to this—everything in real life takes precedence over everything else. This was a situation where my best friend needed my help and needed me to step in, so I look at this as an opportunity, in a small way, to thank him for everything he did for me earlier in my career.”

Continuing on, the WWE Hall of Famer explained that he was honoured to have the chance to repay Triple H for what he did for him years previously.

“Taking over the responsibilities here is a drop in the bucket compared to what he did for me all those years back. I’m honoured to at least have the opportunity to pay him back a little bit and be there for him. That’s what this whole company does—this whole relaunch has been everyone pulling together, and I’m energized and inspired to keep this NXT territory going strong during his absence.”

The most recent episode of NXT 2.0, Halloween Havoc, saw the winds of change continue to blow through the brand with multiple championship’s changing hands, a debut and a shocking return.

In the show’s main event Tommaso Ciampa retained his NXT Championship in a gruelling main event with Bron Breakker but earlier in the night it was all change. Mandy Rose claimed the NXT Women’s Championship in part thanks to a returning Dakota Kai. Toxic Attraction won the NXT Women’s Tag Team Titles while Imperium won the male equivalent.
