As the new regime settles into the top of WWE, Shawn Michaels appears to have been given a promotion according to a new report.
WWE’s behind-the-scenes team has undergone a massive shift over the past few weeks following the retirement of Vince McMahon and the termination of John Laurinaitis. Although Stephanie McMahon, Nick Khan, and Paul ‘Triple H’ Levesque’s new roles have been well documented, Shawn Michaels now has a new role too.
‘The Heartbreak Kid’ was noted in the press release for NXT Europe back in August as being the company’s Vice President of Talent Development Creative. Shawn Michaels had previously been referred to as the Vice President of Talent Development.
Now CBS Sports has reported that Michaels has a slightly elevated job title as he is now the Senior Vice President of Talent Development Creative.
Shawn Michaels is still the man in charge of WWE’s developmental brand NXT and is expected to oversee the formation of the new NXT Europe which is due to launch in 2023.
Michaels’ rise to the top of the corporate ladder in WWE may come as something of a surprise to fans of a certain vintage who remember ‘The Boy Toy’ for his behind-the-scenes politicking, dressing room fights, and bust ups with his former boss Vince McMahon.
