Shaq Confirmed For AEW Dynamite

Shaq AEW

Basketball all-time great Shaq (Shaquille O’Neal) will be making his first appearance in front of the cameras on AEW Dynamite, the promotion has today confirmed.

Rumours circulated about Shaq joining the promotion after it was revealed that he was backstage at AEW Full Gear. This came following reports that Shaq might be AEW bound after he re-signed with WarnerMedia in August and his role as a panelist on TNT show Inside The NBA.

A promo segment the following week on Dynamite essentially confirmed that Shaq would be turning up in the promotion sooner rather than later.

The promo in question saw Cody Rhodes delivering his TNT Title concession promo before he was interrupted by newcomer Jade Cargill, who after mocking him for his legal battle with WWE over his surname, just about managed to get out that she knew someone who had managed just fine with one name, and that man was Shaq.

Cargill was then chased off by a fired-up Brandi Rhodes, who cut the promo of her career as she dressed down the newcomer.

A month on from Full Gear, and following a very newsworthy episode of AEW Dynamite last week, the promotion is stacking the show again with Shaq’s appearance this coming Wednesday, in what is been advertised as an interview segment with Tony Schiavone, where Shaq will “address AEW”.

Also this week on Dynamite, in what looks to be another jam-packed show on paper:

  • The fallout from Kenny Omega’s AEW World Title win and the follow-up from his appearance on Impact Wrestling
  • Tony Schiavone interviews Sting
  • The Inner Circle ultimatum
  • Orange Cassidy vs. MJF for the Dynamite Diamond Ring
  • Non-title match: The Young Bucks vs. Jack Evans & Angelico
  • Lance Archer, Penta El Zero Miedo & Rey Fenix vs. Eddie Kingston, The Butcher & The Blade
  • FTR vs. Griff Garrison & Brian Pillman Jr.
  • Dustin Rhodes vs. 10
  • Abadon in action
