Shane McMahon’s WrestleMania Match Reportedly Scrapped

Shane McMahon

New reports say that Shane McMahon was meant to be a part of the WWE Title match at the Elimination Chamber, but that and his proposed WrestleMania 38 bout have been scrapped.

Shane McMahon shocked the world when he made a surprise appearance in the men’s Royal Rumble match, entering the bout at number 28. McMahon lasted until the final three competitors before he was bundled over the top rope by eventual winner Brock Lesnar.

It had been reported that McMahon was set to be a part of the Elimination Chamber event in Saudi Arabia and WrestleMania 38 but now things seem less certain in that regard.

Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio has reported that McMahon was originally meant to be a part of the WWE Championship match at Elimination Chamber but his spot has gone to Austin Theory instead. Meltzer stated that McMahon’s appearance in the Chamber would have originally led to a match at WrestleMania against Seth Rollins:

“Shane McMahon was going to be in the Chamber and set up a feud for WrestleMania with Seth Rollins. I don’t know if that was going to be the championship match but obviously, whether it is or it isn’t, that was changed so I don’t know how that relates to Shane McMahon at WrestleMania.”

Meltzer also noted that Seth Rollins was originally meant to be a part of the men’s Royal Rumble match on the night he lost his Universal Title match against Roman Reigns:

“Seth Rollins was originally in the Rumble which was another story. […] Both Rumbles were changed over and over and over again. In fact, the Seth match with Roman was changed several times too.”

At Elimination Chamber, Bobby Lashley will defend his newly won WWE Championship against Brock Lesnar, Seth Freakin’ Rollins, Austin Theory, Riddle, and AJ Styles.
