Shane McMahon Seemingly Still Working For WWE

Shane McMahon

The reports of Shane McMahon’s WWE demise may have been greatly exaggerated as it appears that he’s still working for the company.

Following his somewhat controversial return to WWE at the 2022 Royal Rumble, Shane McMahon reportedly left the company. In a matter of days, planned appearances at Elimination Chamber and WrestleMania 38 were scrapped amid reports of backstage heat, before he departed WWE altogether.

As well as appearing in the men’s Royal Rumble itself, McMahon had also become involved in producing the match. It was reported that this didn’t sit well with many backstage, with McMahon clashing with Brock Lesnar and Vince McMahon over creative.

However, it appears that McMahon has remained with the company in some capacity.

Marco Masotti, who owns South African rugby team the Sharks, revealed on social media that he had met Shane McMahon to discuss a partnership with WWE. The post also included Doug Cifu who is the co-owner of NHL franchise the Florida Panthers.

This news comes after it was reported that Shane McMahon was heading for a match near the top of the WrestleMania card. Although, with Shane O’Mac now out of the picture WWE are looking for a “major attraction” match outside of the big title matches to fill the gap. It was also noted that the WrestleMania 38 card is in “complete flux.”

Ahead of his Royal Rumble appearance, McMahon had last wrestled at WrestleMania 37 where he was defeated by Braun Strowman in a Cage Match.

To date only two matches have been confirmed for WrestleMania 38. Roman Reigns will defend his Universal Championship against Brock Lesnar, while Charlotte Flair defends her SmackDown Women’s crown against Ronda Rousey.

Becky Lynch will also defend her Raw Women’s Championship against the winner of the women’s Elimination Chamber match on February 19th.
