Following a surprise return as part of the men’s Royal Rumble match, it appears Shane McMahon will be sticking around on the Road To WrestleMania according to reports.
Shane McMahon had not been seen on WWE television since losing a hellacious Cage Match against now-former WWE Superstar Braun Strowman at WrestleMania 37 in 2021. However, at the Royal Rumble in St. Louis, McMahon stunned the world when he emerged as the 28th entrant in the men’s Royal Rumble match.
McMahon managed to eliminate old nemesis, Kevin Owens on his way to the final three before being thrown over the top rope himself by the eventual winner, Brock Lesnar.
Now Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer has reported that Shane O’Mac will be a part of the upcoming Elimination Chamber event in Saudi Arabia before competing at WrestleMania 38. Meltzer noted that McMahon “has a match on the books but it was said to have not been finalized a few days ago which is evidently why they did no angle with him (at the Rumble).”
Should Shane McMahon compete at the Elimination Chamber, it will mark his fourth match on WWE’s controversial events in the Middle Eastern Kingdom. In 2018 McMahon was a part of the Greatest Royal Rumble before winning the WWE World Cup later that same year against Dolph Ziggler.
In 2019 McMahon returned to Saudi Arabia where he picked up an unlikely victory over current WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns – with more than a little help from Drew McIntyre.
If Shane McMahon competes at WrestleMania 38 then it will mark his eighth bout on the Grandest Stage Of Them All. McMahon famously defeated his father at WrestleMania 17 and marked his comeback to WWE in 2016 by taking on The Undertaker at WrestleMania 32 inside – and off the top of – Hell In A Cell.
