The first-ever house show in AEW history now has a name that maintains the ‘casino’ theme of other AEW events with several matches also announced.
‘The House Always Wins’ takes place at AEW’s home base of Daily’s Place in Jacksonville, Florida on Friday the 9th of April.
Announced for the event so far is Darby Allin defending his TNT Championship, although no challenger has been given. Allin recently vented his frustration at his lack of title defences while dealing with Team Taz. The TNT Champion issued an open challenge to any member of Dark Order on Dynamite in honour of who Allin called ‘the greatest TNT Champion’ Brodie Lee. Dark Order put forward John Silver for the challenge but Allin defeated him and retained the belt. Recently Lance Archer has interrupted Darby Allin and Sting’s interview time, saying that he’s tired of waiting for an opportunity.
AEW World And Tag Team Champions Will Be In Action
Also announced for the event is Cody Rhodes facing ‘All Ego’ Ethan Page in a one-on-one contest. Page debuted for AEW at the Revolution pay-per-view in February. The former IMPACT Wrestling Tag Team Champion was the mystery sixth man in the ‘Face Of The Revolution’ ladder match. Cody Rhodes was also in the match as well as Penta El Zero M, Lance Archer and ‘Platinum’ Max Caster. The match and ensuing TNT Title shot were won by Scorpio Sky. Page recently defeated Lee Johnson, a member of Rhodes’ Nightmare Family in his Dynamite debut.
AEW World Champion teams with longtime friend Michael Nakazawa against Matt and Mike Sydal. Matt Sydal recently faced Omega in a World Title Eliminator match on Dynamite. Omega managed to get the better of the former IMPACT Grand Champion, catching him with the One-Winged Angel for the win.
A six-man tag team match has also been announced featuring the AEW Tag Team Champions. The Young Bucks team with Brandon Cutler to face Death Triangle. Rey Fenix and PAC are the number one contenders for the AEW Tag Team Titles. They gained this status after winning the Casino Tag Team Royale at Revolution.
