New Report Claims Seth Rollins Could Be Heading To WrestleMania Main Event

Seth Rollins makes his entrance

According to a new report, Seth Rollins could be in line for a main event spot at WrestleMania 38 in Dallas.

While Brock Lesnar was the man who walked out of Day 1 with the WWE Championship, things could have turned out very differently.

According to reports in the days after the event, it was suggested that Seth Rollins was originally intended to become the new champion. However, a positive COVID-19 test for Roman Reigns and a quick reshuffle of the card meant that plans were changed at the eleventh hour.

Despite this, it has now been claimed that Rollins could still be in-line for WrestleMania 38 main event appearance. Writing in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer notes that although Rollins doesn’t have the title, his intended match against a top Raw star could still headline night one of the event.

”Because there are two nights of WrestleMania, they need a WWE title match to headline the other show. The plan for that was originally Seth Rollins, likely against the winner of the Royal Rumble, with Big E the favorite, but Kevin Owens and Bobby Lashley were also possibilities. The match in that position may remain the same, but getting there is different,”

Furthermore, Meltzer explained that part of the reason for Seth Rollins moving to Monday Night Raw in the WWE Draft in October 2020, was for him to win the WWE Championship from Big E.

‘When Rollins was moved from Smackdown to Raw, the original plan was to transfer the WWE title from Big E to him. The decision was then made to do the change on the 1/1 show in the four-way.”

Following his shock victory at Day 1, Brock Lesnar returned to Monday Night Raw where he reunited with his advocate Paul Heyman. After promising another showdown with Roman Reigns, The Beast found out who his first challenger for the WWE Title will be.

After a suitably star-studded Fatal-Four-Way match featuring Rollins, Kevin Owens, Bobby Lashley and Big E, it was the All-Mighty who emerged victorious, guaranteeing himself a match with Lesnar at the Royal Rumble.
