Seth Rollins has given the WWE Universe a familiar update following the events that took place on the January 2nd edition of Monday Night Raw.
Rollins was in action in the main event of the inaugural show of 2023, challenging United States Champion Austin Theory to match with the title on the line. The challenger’s knee was a factor in the match, with Rollins frequently clutching the knee in pain after a high impact move was executed.
The conclusion of the match would see Rollins attempt to hit the stomp on Theory, but would only increase the damage to the knee. Theory would hit a low blow and A Town Down to win the match and retain the championship.
Seth Rollins Comments On Speculated Knee Injury
The injury appears to be more than storyline, with Seth Rollins providing an update that could be unfortunate news for the Raw star.
Taking to social media, The Visionary posted 3 words that many WWE fans will be familiar with:
Redesign. Rebuild. Reclaim.
Redesign. Rebuild. Reclaim.
— Seth “Freakin’” Rollins (@WWERollins) January 4, 2023
The 3 letter phrase was the same one that was used during Seth Rollins’ recovery back in 2015. While WWE Champion, Rollins would injure his knee at a WWE house show in Dublin while competing in a match against Kane. The injury was diagnosed as a torn ACL, MCL and meniscus.
The unfortunate injury would force Rollins to vacate the title and miss WrestleMania 32. The former Shield member would not be seen inside a WWE ring again until the end of the Extreme Rules pay-per-view in 2016, targeting former ally and then WWE Champion Roman Reigns after a successful title defence against AJ Styles.
The Revolutionary was highly praised for his in-ring work in 2022, with the Hell in a Cell match against Cody Rhodes gaining the prestigious 5* accolade from Dave Meltzer. One WWE Hall of Famer has credited Rollins’ performance in that match, stating how the loss does not hurt Rollins.
