Seth Rollins is set to address his future as World Heavyweight Champion on WWE Raw.
The main event of the January 15th episode of Monday Night Raw saw Seth Rollins defend his World Heavyweight Championship against fellow former WWE Champion Jinder Mahal. Despite consistent interference from Indus Sher, Rollins was victorious in retaining his title.
However, concern began to grow for the champion when he was seen clutching his knee mid-match. While he was able to finish the bout, he was helped to the back after the match. PWTorch reported that the star was able to put weight on the leg but that he was visibly in pain, and that he walked with a noticeable limp.
Seth Rollins has since been removed from this weekend’s WWE Live Events, furthering concern about his injury status. Fightful Select added that he’s been replaced by Randy Orton on these events, and that those backstage are hoping he hasn’t suffered an ACL injury. According to Fightful, Rollins didn’t personally believe he’d torn his ACL at the time of the injury, but there is no official word on the severity.
Now, WrestleVotes reports that Rollins is set to address his status on the January 22nd episode of Raw. The report reads:
“I’m told the plan of as now is for Seth Rollins to address his health & future as World Heavyweight Champion this Monday night on RAW.”
In an update, Fightful Select reports that according to sources close to Rollins, the star suffered a torn MCL and a partially torn meniscus. It is unknown at this time whether or not he will require surgery, and the hope it that he can avoid an operation. It is also unknown how WWE will handle the injury on television or whether Rollins will remain World Heavyweight Champion.
