While Roman Reigns might be on the WWE run of a lifetime, Seth Rollins has attempted to bring him back down to earth.
On the December 30th episode of Friday Night SmackDown Reigns teamed with Sami Zayn to take on John Cena and Kevin Owens. Come the end of the night it was Owens and Cena who earned the win, and Reigns was left stunned by the defeat. However, a week later the Tribal Chief arrived on the blue brand ready to set the record straight.
According to Reigns, seeing as it was Zayn it was actually pinned in the match, he hadn’t lost. Michael Cole commented that Reigns hadn’t been beaten outside of a disqualification since 2019. In a surprising piece of trivia, Baron Corbin is actually the last man to pin Reigns, defeating him at TLC: Tables, Ladders and Chairs in December 2019.
Seth Rollins Highlights Win Over Roman Reigns
Off the back of the segment Seth Rollins was quick to point out that although it was via disqualification, Reigns had lost, and he had lost to him. The Visionary defeated Reigns at the 2022 Royal Rumble after the then Universal Champion got himself disqualified. The match ended with Rollins trapped in a Guillotine Choke, and Reigns refusing to break the hold despite his rival making it to the ropes. Although Rollins was declared the winner on the night, Reigns retained the gold.
In response to Rollins’ tweet Xavier Woods responded with a meme of his own pointing out they were in the same situation.
