Seth Rollins Reveals Mental And Physical Condition With WWE Status Up In The Air

The WWE future of Seth Rollins is now up in the air after a devastating injury that has destroyed longterm storyline plans for top Superstars on the roster. Rollins has revealed new details on the injury and what happened in the ring with LA Knight, and now there’s an update on how the well-respected veteran is really doing.

The Visionary was originally scheduled to defeat The Megastar at Saturday Night’s Main Event XL, but a bad landing off the top caused an injury, and Rollins called an in-ring audible that quickly ended the match in Knight’s favor after a few minutes at ringside with doctors and Paul Heyman. Earlier today, Rollins described what happened on the landing, and why doctors were unable to get a diagnosis this week.

Rollins needed seven months of recovery after suffering a torn ACL, MCL, and meniscus in November 2015 while he was World Heavyweight Champion. There’s been backstage chatter on how the SNME injury may be similar, and while guest hosting The Rich Reisen Show today, Seth Rollins confirmed that whatever the current injury is, it is the same knee. Seth also commented on how his mindset is different these days, and expressed confidence in his WWE colleagues to keep the product rolling. He was asked how he’s doing mentally, considering he was in the middle of another push with big things on the horizon.

“Yeah, I mean… look, there’s no good time to get injured. There’s no, ‘Oh, this is the best time of year for this to happen!’ Or, if you’re not being used very much, you can take a break… but this is not my first rodeo. I had a very serious knee injury, the same knee actually, back in 2015. I was in a much different state of mind at that point in my career, where I was still feeling like I needed to work, work, work to get to the top,” Seth Rollins said.

He continued:

“Now I’m sort of at the top… I’ve had multiple injuries over the years, so I know what it feels like to take a step back, but also I have the confidence in our roster and in our team that they’re going to be able to move things forward in a way that’s entertaining, like I don’t want to say they don’t need me, but we’re good. We’re in a good place right now, and when I come back, I’ll be better than ever, so,” Seth Rollins said.

WWE had major plans for Seth Rollins at SummerSlam this year. He earlier noted that WrestleMania 42 is in the back of his mind, hoping he will be able to make the big event in Las Vegas next year.

Seth Rollins Talks Current Injury vs. 2015 Injury

Seth Rollins continued to express optimism over his current injury, WWE staying hot while he’s out, and the plan to return better than ever. Unfortunately Rollins is familiar with injuries, and he noted that while the official diagnosis has not been made, it feels similar to the November 2015 injuries, which were in the same knee.

Early backstage talk over the weekend was that Rollins may have suffered another torn ACL or torn meniscus, or both. In addition to the 2015 setbacks, the Iowa native suffered a torn MCL in 2017, and had surgery to repair a nagging torn meniscus just last year. After reiterating how this injury feels like the 2015 injuries did on The Rich Eisen Show today, the 39-year-old was asked how he would compare the current situation to past injuries from his career.

The Architect pointed to his position in the WWE storylines, and repeated how he’s looking for the silver linings in the injury hiatus that is just beginning. Seth Rollins is looking forward to spending more time with his daughter, but has accepted that there will be tough weeks ahead.

“Well, I don’t know… again, I’m not a doctor. I don’t want to do their job but it feels a lot like 2015 in the sense that I was kind of in-story, I was on my way up to taking the top spot. Now, when I blew my knee out in 2015 I was actually the WWE World Heavyweight Champion, so that was a heart-breaker for me, and I had just sort of reached the mountain top, we were on the way to WrestleMania and I felt like I was in for a really big spot that year. This is sort of like that but again, I’m just… mentally I’m in such a different place, 10 years gone. I’m just more comfortable with it, I’m kind of trying to find the silver lining,” Seth Rollins said.

He continued:

“My daughter’s four-and-a-half, I’m gonna be able to spend a lot of time with her that I might not have been able to otherwise because the schedule’s going to get crazy. We have a bunch of international stuff coming up, I would’ve been gone for all of that. So, I feel like, mentally I’m in a good place. I think, physically I’ll be fine to come back from it, when we get into the rehab and whatever it is we’re gonna end up doing with this, but I feel good, man. I feel good. I don’t want to jinx it, I’m sure there are gonna be some weeks where I’m miserable, but I feel good about it, I’m trying to find the silver linings and everything’s gonna be fine. Everything’s gonna be fine, we’re good. We’re good, guys, we’re good. We’re good,” Seth Rollins said.

Seth Rollins was unable to get a diagnosis from a MRI earlier this week due to the swelling in his knee. Doctors plan to try again some time over the next two weeks, and then they will have a better idea of his recovery, and if surgery is necessary.
