Seth Rollins was on his way back to the very top of WWE RAW when he suffered a devastating injury at SNME XL this past weekend. WWE’s Creative Writing Team was forced to change several longterm plans due to Rollins’ expected absence, and now there’s an important update on his status for WrestleMania 42 in 2026.
The Visionary suffered another knee injury in the Saturday Night’s Main Event loss to LA Knight. Rollins called an audible mid-match, and took the loss to The Megastar when he was set to win, then go on to the inaugural two-night SummerSlam for a massive singles match, while in possession of the Money In the Bank briefcase.
Rollins served as guest host of The Rich Eisen Show today, and opened up on what happened in Atlanta last Saturday. He revealed how they were unable to get a good diagnosis while seeing doctors at Andrews Sports Medicine & Orthopaedic Center in Birmingham, AL this past week.
“I do have a leg brace on, over in the corner are my crutches. This past Saturday I was in a match on Saturday Night’s Main Event, which was a special on NBC and Peacock. I was in a match with LA Knight, and I hurt my knee. I was doing a move that I do all the time, it was a moonsault, a back-flip, and in this particular instance, I was landing, not on my belly, but I was landing on my feet,” Seth Rollins said.
He continued:
“When I landed… I felt my knee kind of pop and buckle, then we got out of the match, and we moved forward. Monday, I was in Birmingham, Alabama, where our specialists are at. We tried to take a look at the knee through some imaging, but it was a little too swollen,” Seth Rollins said.
Seth Rollins Set For Follow-Up With Doctors
Seth Rollins was unable to receive a firm diagnosis on his knee injury in Alabama this week, but he is set to undergo another MRI in Los Angeles later this month. Continuing on The Rich Eisen Show, the veteran Superstar revealed the one big thing he’s worried about: missing WrestleMania 42, scheduled for April 18–19, 2026 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.
“So, we’re going to take another look, hopefully in a week or two here in LA, to try to get something… some form of firm diagnosis, and then we can go from there. I am not a doctor, I only know my body, and what i feel, and what I feel is that this is gonna be me out for an extended period of time. We were talking off-air earlier, and it is a bummer, but it is what it is. Our business moves on, this isn’t the first time I’ve been injured, it won’t be the last time, and I’ve always just got WrestleMania in the back of my mind,” Seth Rollins said.
He continued:
“I’m like, ‘Can I make it back for WrestleMania? For WrestleMania Season, for the whole thing?’ So, my brain always goes there, and I feel good about that, but beyond a firm timeline… I just won’t know until we get a better answer on the MRI, so that’s where it’s at,” Seth Rollins said.

Seth Rollins was backstage for WWE Evolution and RAW. The mood backstage was said to be somber over his injury. He noted that this injury feels similar to what happened in November 2015, where he suffered a torn ACL, MLC, and meniscus for a seven month hiatus.
