Seth Rollins has discussed his very first wrestling character that dates back to his debut in 2005 that was inspired by a very popular card game.
Appearing on Loudwire’s ‘Wikipedia: Fact or Fiction?’ the former WWE Champion set the record straight on some of the information available online regarding him.
When it comes to what is said about Rollins’ 2005 debut as ‘Gixx’, Seth Rollins says there’s some truth to it:
“So yeah Gixx, it’s true and false. That was actually before I made my professional debut so my professional debut was in 2005 after I had been trained. I had wrestled previously probably, I would say maybe a year before that in a ring. And then for four years before that in my back yard. But my debut in-ring name was Gixx who was a Magic The Gathering character. I never played Magic The Gathering but my brother who’s three years older than me was way into it. [He] gave me the name or thought it was a cool name and I was like ‘alright if you think it’s cool, I must be cool’ so I used that for a little bit, maybe a year here and there at some shows.”
Seth Rollins has certainly come a long way since his outings as Gixx. He made his name as Tyler Black in Ring Of Honor before being rechristened as Seth Rollins when he joined WWE.
In August 2012 Rollins became the first man to hold the newly minted NXT Championship and just three months later he burst onto the main roster alongside Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns as The Shield. He has gone on to hold almost every major title available to him in WWE, winning his first WWE Championship in the ‘heist of the century’ in the main event of WrestleMania 31.
