Seth Rollins Pays Tribute To Rob Van Dam During Extreme Rules

Seth Rollins confronts Matt Riddle at WWE Extreme Rules 2022

Seth Rollins has once again paid tribute to one of the all-time greats with his attire, this time homaging Rob Van Dam at Extreme Rules!

Seth ‘Freakin’ Rollins is the new ‘Mr Monday Night’.

At least that’s who he paid tribute to at WWE Extreme Rules, as Rollins’ gear resembled that of Rob Van Dam, while ‘The Visionary’ also adopted RVD’s signature pose throughout the match. He ultimately lost to Matt Riddle in the Fight Pit match headliner, refereed by UFC Hall of Famer Daniel Cormier.

Seth Rollins posed both during his entrance on-stage and atop the Fight Pit during the match itself in Rob Van Dam’s classic ‘R-V-D’ stance. Fans have already speculated that the former WWE Champion may be using this as a jab at Matt Riddle, given Riddle and Van Dam’s known use of marijuana.

Given that Extreme Rules was held in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania – the land of extreme as the home of Extreme Championship Wrestling – wearing gear reminiscent of an ECW icon made perfect sense for Rollins to do. Rob Van Dam was a veteran of ECW, holding the World Television Championship once and the World Tag Team Championships twice with Sabu.

The 2021 WWE Hall of Fame inductee last wrestled for WWE on the 29 August 2014 broadcast of Friday Night SmackDown, ironically losing to Seth Rollins.
