Seth Rollins took his feud with Matt Riddle to a new level when he referenced his foe being fired from UFC in 2013.
Riddle and Seth Rollins have been at odds as of late on Monday Night Raw, and the two were scheduled to face off in singles action at SummerSlam. However, on the go-home episode of Raw, Seth Rollins attacked and it was reported that the Original Bro had suffered a storyline brachial plexus injury as a result.
However, despite claiming that he wasn’t medically cleared to compete, Riddle made a surprise appearance at SummerSlam to confront Rollins and the two brawled in lieu of their scheduled match. It was reported that “creative adjustments” led to the match’s cancellation.
Riddle was absent from the August 8th episode of Raw, but it was announced that he would be returning to the red brand next week to give an exclusive interview and address his injuries. Rollins, however, was in full force on the program, and not only did he defeat Angelo Dawkins on the show, he also had scathing words for Riddle in a backstage interview.
Rollins told Kevin Patrick that Riddle wouldn’t have anything interesting to say in his exclusive interview, claiming that he wouldn’t say much beyond “Bro” and “Randy.”
However, things got even more personal when Seth referenced the Original Bro’s former stint as a UFC fighter and also mocked him for being released from the company.
“As great as Riddle could be, he’s even better at flushing his own potential down the toilet. Don’t believe me? Don’t believe me? Ask Dana White.”
Rollins’ jab was aimed at the fact that Riddle was fired from UFC in 2013 after violating the company’s drug policy due to testing positive for marijuana multiple times. Riddle and UFC President Dana White have gone back and forth on social media in the years to follow, and White has previously called Riddle a “moron.”
