According to Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Seth Rollins is set to miss very little ring time when he departs WWE for a brief period following Survivor Series.
Last week, Meltzer reported that ‘The Greater Good’ was set to take time away from the promotion following the elimination extravaganza in order to be by the side of Becky Lynch as the pair prepare to welcome their first child.
The report stated that Rollins would be absent for the remainder of the year and was expected to either return on January 1 or at the 2021 Royal Rumble. Now, that plan appears to have changed as per the latest edition of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
Instead of taking the rest of 2020 off, Meltzer reports that the former WWE Champion is now expected to return to the ring fairly quickly and although exact dates have not been given he could only be absent a matter of weeks.
It is currently unknown whether WWE will be continuing the Seth Rollins/Murphy rivalry going into the Royal Rumble and whether the promotion will require him present in order to build their story further for another coming together at the second biggest event of the year.
Murphy extracted revenge on his former messiah on the November 20 WWE Friday Night SmackDown when he pinned him in the middle of the ring with Murphy’s Law.
The Australian turned on Rollins during last week’s episode of the blue brand during the final bout of Seth’s rivalry with Rey Mysterio. Helping his leader set Mysterio up for a chair shot, Murphy suddenly charged ‘The Greater Good’ and connected with a stiff knee.
His actions not only caused Rollins to fall to a frog splash – a touching tribute to Eddie Guerrero – but earned him the respect and acceptance of the Mysterio family who have their blessing to the relationship between Murphy and Aalyah Mysterio.
