Seth Rollins has seen first-hand how much WWE has changed for the better over the past 12 years.
Debuting on the main roster as part of The Shield back at Survivor Series 2012, Rollins has prided himself on being one of the workhorses in the company. Looking to be on as many shows as possible, The Visionary has competed in more than 1,500 matches in WWE alone.
However, 12 years on from his debut, Rollins is now married to Becky Lynch and the couple have a daughter, meaning that life on the road and being part of every event is no longer the priority, Thankfully, the company has drastically cut back on house shows compared to previous years and has also implemented double tapings at times to give the roster an extended break.
Speaking with Brandon Tierney & Sal Licata of WFAN Radio, Rollins spoke about how the company has become much more “user-friendly”, citing the major cutback in dates:
“The business has changed so much, it’s evolved so much. And it’s so much more, you know, user-friendly I suppose, for us as performers. The schedule is way pared down even from when I started back in 2012. I went from wrestling 200-plus matches a year to now maybe doing like 50 at most.”
When asked how fewer dates affected his salary, Rollins admitted that despite the reduced schedule the money was better while continuing to praise the company changes:
“The money is a little better [laughs]. The money is a little better. The business is in a much healthier place than it was, you know, 12 years ago. So — it’s fantastic. And, yeah, you’re right, dude. Those guys [from past eras], it wrecked families. The business wrecked families. Because what are you going to do? You’re on the road for a month at a time. There [was] no oversight, there’s no help to get you healthy, you’re just constantly running and running, and it wears you down.”
Seth Rollins To Face CM Punk Again On WWE Raw
Although CM Punk was able to best Rollins at the Raw on Netflix premiere and eliminate his rival from the Royal Rumble, Rollins got revenge at Elimination Chamber as he played an integral part in Punk being eliminated from the match by John Cena. With Seth Rollins and CM Punk at odds once again, the rematch has been booked for the March 10th Raw at Madison Square Garden.
