Seth Rollins has addressed a potential end date for his WWE in-ring career.
With many accolades in the wrestling world, years of wear and tear on his body and now having a family to take care of, few would blame Rollins for thinking about bringing his time inside the squared circle to a close.
In previous interviews, fellow WWE stars John Cena and AJ Styles have stated that they have a clear date in mind for when their time in the ring will come to a close. Cena will compete in his final match at the end of the year and Styles has made it clear he won’t wrestle into his 50s. For Rollins, there is no definitive date in mind but there is already a plan.
Appearing on WFAN, the former World Champion admitted that while his retirement date is not set in stone, it is likely to take place in around 6 years time:
“No [I don’t have an end date in mind], I’ll be 39 in May. You know, 45 maybe really sounds all right to me, I think. It’s kind of going to depend on what I do in the next few years as far as outside of WWE or behind-the-scenes in WWE. Both of those things are appealing to me. So just got to figure out what that feels like. But I feel good right now. I feel very good.”
When asked if he could see himself making the transition to commentary after he retires, Rollins admitted he sees himself in an offscreen role instead:
“Commentary no, not so much. […] I think I’m more of a behind-the-scenes guy when it’s time for me to finish up. I’d like to be on the other side of it. I don’t want to be like a character in front of it anymore. Once I’m done in the ring, like let me go back, let me help the business. Let me help the young guys and girls, let me do something like that. Maybe something in the creative department. We’ll see.”
