Seth Rollins is confident he’s on the same level of Roman Reigns.
The once “Architect” of The Shield is all about adversity as he’s aimed to be a defending champion ever since obtaining the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at Night Of Champions. As expected, comparisons have been made with him and the WWE Undipusted Universal Champion Roman Reigns. It’s been many moons since Rollins turned his back on The Shield but speaking with The New York Post, he welcomes a target on his own back when it comes to “The Tribal Chief.”
“Immediately people are going to compare whatever my title reign is gonna be to what his title reign is gonna be, my stories to his stories, my character to his character, my promo to his promo and it’s inevitable. It’s awesome. Great, I love it. Let’s talk about it. It’s only gonna make things more exciting. It’s only gonna polarize people more. It’s only gonna give people stronger opinions. Let’s go. I love it. Whatever you got to say, you think about, I’m excited to hear it. I’m excited that we are both in great positions in the prime of our careers. Two different titles. Two different approaches.”
Can Seth Rollins’ Reign Be As Memorable As Roman’s?
Obviously, from a length standpoint Rollins surpassing Reigns “1,000 days and counting” streak could be a tall order to overcome, but he does already hold his place in the history books as the inaugural champion for the World Heavyweight Title.
To Rollins’ point in the Post article, he also has a very different approach to defending the title than does the heelish Reigns. Seth has sought to defend his title as steady as possible which just included a big win against Bron Breakker at NXT Gold Rush on Tuesday. He aimed to do the same on Monday’s “WWE Raw,” but an attack by Finn Balor thwarted such efforts. Balor even came back to NXT to ambush Seth after his battle with Breakker. Now he’ll have to fight Finn at Money In The Bank. Reigns, on the other hand, won’t be putting his title on the line as he’ll be teaming with Solo Sikoa to face The Usos in a Bloodline “Civil War.”
H/t to Fightful.
