Semi-Finals In AEW World Title Eliminator Determined

The semi-finals of the AEW World Title Eliminator have been determined with Kenny Omega, ‘Hangman’ Adam Page, Wardlow and Rey Fenix all advancing.

The tournament kicked off on last night’s episode of AEW Dynamite with all four first round matches: Wardlow Vs. Jungle Boy, Rey Fenix Vs. Penta El Zero M, Kenny Omega Vs. Sonny Kiss and Hangman Adam Page Vs. Colt Cabana.

Wardlow was the first to advance to the semi-finals, handily defeating Jungle Boy in the show’s opener after dominating for the majority of the match and getting the pinfall win after a second F-10. This wasn’t the most dominant tournament win of the night, however, as Kenny Omega secured his spot next after defeating Sonny Kiss in 25 seconds. Omega managed to hit the V-Trigger straight away before delivering the One Winged Angel to pick up an incredibly quick win, taking him into the second round.

The third first round match of the night featured a spectacular match between brothers Rey Fenix and Penta El Zero M where Fenix managed to pull out a win after countering Penta’s offence into a Canadian Destroyer. The match also determined our very first semi-final match of the tournament – Kenny Omega Vs. Rey Fenix. The two have met in singles action twice previously with Omega winning the AAA Mega Championship from Fenix in their last encounter just over a year ago, a belt Omega still holds today.

‘Hangman’ Adam Page was the final man to book his place in the semi-finals after defeating the Dark Order’s Colt Cabana in 10 minutes and 50 seconds. With this win, Page goes on to face a monumental challenge next week in the form of Wardlow – who hasn’t lost in singles action since his Steel Cage match with Cody in February.

The tournament resumes with the semi-final matches on next week’s Dynamite and the finals taking place at Full Gear on November 7th. This adds to an already stacked card for the show including Jon Moxley Vs. Eddie Kingston for the AEW World Championship in an ‘I Quit’ match as well as The Young Bucks taking on FTR for the AEW World Tag Team Championship in their long awaited first-ever match.
