Seemingly Cancelled WWE Show May Return In More Traditional Format

Contrary to a previous report, a long-running WWE special may return.

For the first time since its inception in 2003, the annual Tribute to the Troops special did not take place in 2024. Originally designed to send over the stars of the promotion overseas to put on a show for the troops fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan, the show was moved to the United States from 2010 onwards.

According to a previous report, the future of the WWE special was in doubt and was not taped in 2024 as there were too many other things going on in the company.

Discussing Tribute to the Troops on Sportskeeda’s Backstage Pass podcast, WrestleVotes stated that the show could still return but in a more traditional format as opposed to a special held in an arena:

“Yeah, I tried to ask around about what happened to Tribute to the Troops. I did have a source say that it was likely that they want to get back to the roots of it. I don’t know if that means going overseas and stuff, but I think they wanted to get back into maybe the bases here in America and things like that, and they just didn’t have the organization to do that this time around. So I wouldn’t be surprised if it came back next year in more of a traditional military-based type of environment that we were used to before they changed to just the standard arena show.”

Top WWE Star To Return Soon

With the Raw on Netflix premiere and the Royal Rumble approaching fast, many big names are expected to return soon to officially begin the road to WrestleMania 41. According to a recent report, Randy Orton’s WWE return date is not that far away.
