WWE look set to be hosting multiple major shows in Europe next year.
The latest Premium Live Event announcement revealed that WWE will be travelling to Europe in the summer to present the first-ever big show in Germany. However, this appears to be not the only show that will take place on the continent.
As reported by Fightful Select, there have been talks for Backlash to emanate from Paris, France in the spring of 2024. If France does host Backlash then this will be two consecutive years that the big show has been presented overseas as the 2023 event was held in Puerto Rico. Backlash 2023 saw Bad Bunny compete in a Street Fight against Damian Priest and was main evented by Cody Rhodes defeating Brock Lesnar.
Assuming that the company puts on 12 major shows in 2024 and the show in Paris is confirmed, this would mean that 5 PLEs are set to be hosted internationally, as shows in Australia and Germany have been confirmed and 2 shows in Saudi Arabia will be confirmed per the agreement WWE has with the Kingdom. European fans will also be happy as this is another show that will be broadcast at a regular time and will not require fans to stay up until the early hours of the morning.
In an optimistic address to wrestling fans around the world, the report ends by stating “Don’t expect WWE to slow down doing major overseas events.”
WWE Expands To New Markets
France is another country that has never hosted a Premium Live Event or even an episode of Raw or SmackDown. Fans have only gotten the opportunity to see their favourite stars live when house show tours have made the stop in the nearest city. In a new report, how WWE will further expand into international markets has been revealed.
WWE has since confirmed that the Premium Live Event will take place in Lyon France on May 2024.
