Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic Sean Waltman spent time working with WWE’s next generation at the Performance Center.
Waltman was working alongside the up and coming Superstars for a week at a time, approximately once a month. The man formerly known as X-Pac discussed this and which Superstars stood out to him in conversation with Inside The Ropes‘ Kenny McIntosh.
During the interview, Waltman described himself as one of NXT’s biggest fans before revealing who had impressed him.
“Oh, the ones the ones that have shined, you know, like Damian Priest is doing great. You know, obviously, Riddle and the one I knew it’s going to be a huge star, is Bianca. And then more like Angel Garza was in there. Just a lot of guys. I don’t want to to leave anybody, you know, Austin Theory. There’s just a lot of, you know, Xia Li. I could keep them out.”
Off the back of discussing his role as a coach, Waltman also expressed his desire to return to the ring. The former nWo and DX member said that although he’s not sure where the matches will take place, he will have “a few more matches.”
“Well, before the pandemic started, I was going down [to the Performance Center] about once every month for a week, for a week or two each month, and I was helping coach down there and I loved it. I really loved it. You know, just, you know, obviously, things happen and that has it hasn’t been happening. I’m open to doing it again. I’m really busy and, you know, and that. But it’s something I really love doing. And, you know, as far as getting back in the ring, you know, I’m going to have a few more matches. I don’t know if it’s going to be there. I don’t know where it’s going to be. Maybe I’ll promote them myself. Yeah. You know, but yeah. No, NXT I just I’m one of their biggest fans.”
Waltman’s last match came in April 2019 at WrestleCon SuperShow during the weekend of WrestleMania 35.
