Scrapped WWE Money In The Bank Plans Reportedly Revealed

WWE Money In The Bank

A new report has shed light on original plans from within WWE for July’s Money In The Bank pay-per-view that would have seen an in-ring return months sooner than it occurred.

Money In The Bank saw John Cena make his long-awaited return to WWE as he confronted WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns as the show went off the air.

The two Money In The Bank matches saw new contenders for the WWE Championship and the Raw Women’s Title emerge as Big E and Nikki A.S.H managed to capture their respective briefcases.

Nikki A.S.H managed to see off competition from Alexa Bliss, Asuka, Liv Morgan, Naomi, Natalya, Tamina, and Zelina Vega but according to a new report, things might have gone quite differently.

Fightful Select has reported that Sonya Deville was apparently considered as a Money In The Bank competitor with WWE going as far as to make graphics made indicating as much:

“During the revolving door that was the Smackdown roster around Money in the Bank in July, we can confirm that WWE actually had graphics made featuring Deville as a Money in the Bank competitor. Of course, that didn’t end up happening.”

Sonya Deville at that point had not competed in a WWE ring since losing a Loser Leaves WWE match against former Fire And Desire partner Mandy Rose at SummerSlam 2020. Deville has since been part of a handicap match on SmackDown where she teamed with Shayna Baszler to defeat Naomi – although Baszler did most of the hard work on that occasion.
