A grudge match was originally set to take place at the returning WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event special but plans were changed due to injury.
Bronson Reed began his rise up the card back in August when he delivered 6 Tsunamis onto Seth Rollins. With Rollins out of action for a number of weeks, The Visionary made his return during the Last Monster Standing match to take out Reed and allow Braun Strowman to win the match.
Rollins and Reed first faced off at Crown Jewel with Rollins emerging victorious. As Reed won the rematch on Raw the following week, an inevitable grudge match was set. As reported by Mike Johnson of PWInsider, Rollins Reed III was originally scheduled for Saturday Night’s Main Event. However, following Reed’s Survivor Series injury in the WarGames match, the match was pulled and replaced with Drew McIntyre vs. Sami Zayn. McIntyre reportedly made his return to Raw ahead of time due to Reed’s injury.
It should also be noted that Reed vs, Rollins in a steel cage match was originally set for the December 26th house show in Madison Square Garden but this has also been cancelled.
Major Return Set For WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event
Returning to where it all began on December 14th, Saturday Night’s Main Event will emanate from the Nassau Coliseum in New York and will pay homage to the first event with classic graphics, themes and the return of Jesse Ventura to the announce desk. Along with the injection of nostalgia, a top WWE star is said to be making their return to the company at the event.
