WWE Hall of Famer Scott Steiner has admitted that he played a part in his induction being later than it was.
In 2022, Scott and brother Rick were collectively inducted by NXT star and Rick’s son Bron Breakker. Capturing the WWE Tag Team Championships two times and the WCW Tag Titles 7 times, some believe that The Steiners’ induction was long overdue.
Speaking on the Two Man Power Trip podcast, Steiner looked back on the 2022 ceremony and was grateful to be inducted by his nephew:
“It was great. I got inducted in the Dan Gable Hall of Fame in Iowa when I got a call from WWE. The fact that Bronson [Bron Breakker] was the guy to introduce us made it all that more special. It was a good night,”
Big Poppa Pump would briefly return to WWE in October 2002. Not looked back upon fondly, Steiner would have universally panned matches with Triple H and would not return to the main event picture, departing in August 2004. A part of TNA for most of his career post-WWE, Steiner would frequently berate his former employer in interviews. Some of Steiner’s previous quotes gained so much infamy that fans were apprehensive over what would happen at the ceremony when the former WCW Champion had access to a live microphone.
Continuing the interview, Steiner admitted that he was to blame for the delay in Hall of Fame induction:
“Yeah, that was self-induced. After I went to WWE when they bought WCW, I went up there hurt and wasn’t as mobile. I was pissed off, and it took a while for me to get over that. It’s never good to hang onto that stuff. Since Bronson was there, It made the decision that much more easier.”
Scott Steiner’s Most Famous Promo Referenced On AEW
Despite having multiple championship reigns and a career worthy of a Hall of Fame induction, some fans still best remember Steiner for the iconic “Steiner Math” promo that was used to build to the TNA Sacrifice 2008 pay-per-view. In 2023, the “Steiner Math” promo was recreated once again by none other than AEW’s MJF.
H/t to Fightful.
