The late, great Scott Hall gave a current WWE Raw star his permission to use his ‘Razor’s Edge’ finishing move as it would remind people of him.
During his decades-long career, Scott Hall put some of the best pro wrestlers of all time away with the Razor’s Edge. The likes of Shawn Michaels, Owen Hart, and Booker T all fell to the devastating finisher.
Prior to his tragic passing in March 2022, Hall had struck up a friendship with current Raw Superstar Damian Priest, giving the star advice and helping out where he could. On the latest edition of ‘Under the Ring‘, Priest opened up about asking for permission to take on the move as his own. Something he says the WWE Hall of Famer was all too happy to allow.
“[Scott Hall] was just as cool as the character, I’ll tell you that much. One of my idols and he’s giving me advice, sitting down with me, watching my matches, you know, pointing out stuff and trying to make it better, and then me asking him, ‘Would it be cool if I did the walk and the, you know, the Razor’s Edge?’ And he was like, ‘Yeah, man!’ He goes, ‘Anything that will remind people of me’.”
Since then, Priest has used the Razor’s Edge to great effect, laying out stars with it both in the ring and, in the case of Leon Ruff, outside it too.
Damian Priest has previously revealed that, after giving his blessing to use the move, Scott Hall was happy to roast him for doing it wrong. On one occasion, he chastised the Judgment Day membe rfor not being able to lift his opponent high enough, much to the delight of Keith Lee.
“‘That’s as high as you can get him? That’s it?’” Priest said of Hall’s reaction. “Keith Lee was there and he lost it laughing. He knows how big of a fan I am of Scott’s, so he knew how nervous I was. He thought it was funny that Scott was roasting me – Keith Lee wouldn’t stop roasting me after because of that.”
