IMPACT Wrestling executive Scott D’Amore has commented on the startling revelation that Mickie James is in line for a WWE return at the Royal Rumble.
On SmackDown, WWE announced several competitors that will take part in the 2022 women’s Royal Rumble match. Among several current WWE Superstars, several former names were also confirmed for the bout including the likes of WWE Hall Of Famers Lita and The Bella Twins.
Perhaps the most surprising name included was current IMPACT Wrestling Knockouts Champion, Mickie James. James was released by WWE in April 2021 and went on to discuss her experience of having her belongings returned to her in a trash bag by the company.
Now Scott D’Amore has commented on social media regarding James appearing at the WWE event and says that she has IMPACT Wrestling’s blessing:
“Mickie James has @IMPACTWRESTLING’s blessing to carry the Knockouts World Title belt into the Royal Rumble. And, as you saw, @WWErespects her as a World Champion BUT, Mickie has to get by Deonna Purrazzo at #HardToKill tomorrow night or she goes to the Rumble 6lbs lighter…”
If Mickie James wants to enter the fourth Royal Rumble match of her career with the IMPACT Knockouts Championship around her waist she will have to get past the challenge of the woman she defeated for the title, Deonna Purrazzo at Hard To Kill.
