Scorpio Sky Confirms Injury Following AEW Rampage

Scorpio Sky with the TNT Championship

Scorpio Sky has confirmed that he suffered an injury during the June 3rd edition of Ramage and his headline clash with Dante Martin.

On June 3rd, Scorpio Sky successfully defended his TNT Championship for the second time. After overcoming Frankie Kazarian on May 13th, the former AEW Tag Team Champion saw off the spirited, high-flying challenge of Dante Martin.

However, during the bout it appeared that the champion was struggling with some kind of leg injury, with the apparent issue even being mentioned on commentary.

Taking to social media in the hours after the show, Sky confirmed that going into the match his knee was already bothering him. Then, during the bout he strained a muscle that runs from the knee into the groin. He added that from the moment he suffered the injury his leg was “useless.”

Rampage was a show marred by injury as a tearful CM Punk revealed that he was set to undergo surgery, and as a result would be unable to defend his AEW World Championship for the foreseeable future.

Despite his impending surgery, Punk hasn’t vacated his title and it has been announced that a interim champion will now be crowned.

The June 8th episode of Dynamite will open with a Battle Royal and the winner of that match will face the number one ranked Jon Moxley in the main event. While the winner of that match will head to AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door where the champion will be decided.

While it has also now been confirmed that at NJPW Dominion on June 12th, Hiroshi Tanahashi and Hirooki Goto will meet to decide who will face the winner from Dynamite at Forbidden Door. Prior to his injury, it had been announced that CM Punk would square off against Hiroshi Tanahashi at the Super-Show.
