Sasha Banks recently went under the knife as her absence from WWE television shows no sign of coming to an end.
WWE Superstar Sasha Banks recently underwent laser eye surgery in Florida. In a clip posted on social media by the Newsom Eye Center, it’s confirmed that Banks underwent PRK (photorefractive keratectomy) surgery. The procedure is used to treat refractive errors in your eyes.
The treatment is often recommended to those involved in high-impact sports as an alternative to LASIK, which can leave eyes susceptible to more damage if injured.
Perhaps hinting at her current issues with WWE, in her pre-surgery video, Banks only refers to herself by her real name Mercedes Varnado, with no reference to her famous Sasha Banks moniker.
Sasha Banks has been absent from WWE since walking out of a episode of Monday Night Raw on May 16th alongside her tag team partner Naomi.
The pair had been scheduled to take part in a six-pack challenge to crown a new number one contender for the Raw Women’s Championship.
However, following an alleged disagreement over creative, Banks and her tag partner left the arena with the show in progress. This led to a frantic re-write of the show, with Becky Lynch and Asuka taking the main event spot.
After WWE released a statement during the show criticising the pair, on the following episode of SmackDown, Michael Cole announced that the two women had been suspended indefinitely. Furthermore, they were stripped of the Women’s Tag Team Titles.
Following the announcement of their suspension, WWE removed all Sasha Banks and Naomi merchandise from their online store, as well as taking them out of the ‘Then. Now. Forever’ opening package.
At time of writing there is no word on when Banks or Naomi will return to WWE television.
