According to a new report, Sasha Banks was backstage at the September 3rd edition of SmackDown. It was the first time Banks has attended a show since she was pulled from SummerSlam.
The Boss returned to WWE after a long absence on July 30th where she befriended and then turned on, her long-time rival Bianca Belair. A week later, Banks declared her intention to regain the SmackDown Women’s Championship that she lost to Belair at WrestleMania 37.
However, the highly anticipated rematch at SummerSlam never took place with Banks being pulled from the event. There was no official word from WWE as to why Banks missed the show, only a report after the show saying that she “wasn’t cleared to compete.”
More recently it has been reported that the former SmackDown Women’s Champion is expected to be back for Super SmackDown at Madison Square Garden on September 10th.
Meanwhile, a new report from Fightful Select notes that while Banks hasn’t been present at recent shows, she was at the most recent episode of SmackDown. The report states that although The Boss was backstage at the show, Fightful are unaware of any creative plans for the star.
With Sasha Banks out of the picture, Becky Lynch toppled Bianca Belair at SummerSlam in stunning fashion. Since winning the championship, Lynch has shown no interest in a rematch with Belair spurning multiple challenges from the EST of WWE.
Despite this, Belair has fought her way back into contention winning a Fatal-4-Way Match to earn a shot at the champion. On the September 3rd episode of SmackDown, it was announced that Belair will get her rematch at Extreme Rules.
The two will meet for a contract signing to make the match official at Madison Square Garden.
