Sasha Banks is the talk of the wrestling world at the moment.
After becoming a free agent on New Year’s Day, she will no longer be able to perform under the name “Sasha Banks,” which is trademarked by World Wrestling Entertainment.
However, it seems that Banks (real name Mercedes Varnado) is on the case with this. She recently trademarked a name many believe will be her new wrestling persona following her WWE exit.
Sasha Banks Post WWE Ring Name Seemingly Revealed
On December 27th, 2022, a company named Soulnado INC filed a trademark for “Mone’ Banks.”
Soulnado INC are long assumed to be associated with Sasha Banks, following prior trademarks which have provided solid hints.
The company have previously trademarked the following terms; “Bank Mone,” “Mercedes Mone,” “Mone’ Talks” and “Statement Maker.” These terms have strong connotations to the brand Sasha Banks built as part of WWE, with references to her character’s name and her finishing move, “The Bank Statement.”
The “Mone’ Banks” trademark is valid for several uses, with a particularly notable one noted as “entertainment services, namely, wrestling exhibits and performances by a professional wrestler and entertainer.” Merchandise purposes are also mentioned.
Banks’ official new ring name looks to be confirmed soon, with her heavily rumoured to make at least two public wrestling-related appearances over the next month.
Though nothing has been made public yet, there is a buzz around Sasha Banks appearing for All Elite Wrestling on the January 11th edition of Dynamite. On this episode, Dr Britt Baker and AEW Women’s Champion Jamie Hayter are set to take on the team of Saraya and a “mystery partner.” No name has been given yet for the mystery partner, but it is rumoured to be Banks.
Before that, Sasha Banks will allegedly appear at New Japan Pro-Wrestling’s Wrestle Kingdom 17. Banks has yet to be booked in a match with the event just a few days away. However, KAIRI will defend her IWGP Women’s Championship against Tam Nakano on the show, which is where Banks would likely fit in.
