An update has emerged on the status of Sasha Banks’ reported release from WWE, as her lawyers are allegedly now involved to speed up the process!
The saga of Sasha Banks and Naomi’s WWE walkout continued in the early hours of Thursday morning, as Wrestling Inc.’s Raj Giri reported that ‘The Legit Boss’ had officially been let go from the company. This has gone unverified by other sources, including Fightful.
In an update to the developing situation, Andrew Zarian of the Mat Men podcast has reported how Sasha Banks’ lawyers have gotten involved to aid the former SmackDown Women’s Champion in achieving her free agent status (h/t F4WOnline):
“I cannot confirm she’s been released. But, I did hear late last week that her attorneys were working on getting this done.”
Raj Giri iterated that it remained unknown whether Sasha had requested the release or if WWE had initiated the release on their end. Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp, who was in direct talks with Giri about the news, added that he’d heard nothing that said Sasha Banks had been let go, nor had the WWE roster been notified by talent relations.
Sasha and Naomi, then the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions, first walked out of WWE on 16 May, putting creative plans for that night’s broadcast of Monday Night Raw up in the air. Information on the internal developments has remained sparse for the following month, with WWE’s only acknowledgement of the incident being disparaging remarks on commentary and the vacating of the aforementioned championships.
Sasha Banks has been spotted just a couple of times since her decision to walk out, sporting a new look after ditching the blue hair synonymous with her persona as ‘The Blueprint’. Both she and Naomi had reportedly been in contract discussions prior to them leaving; they’ve since been removed from WWE’s intro package and had all of their merchandise pulled from WWEShop.
