Wrestle Kingdom 17 is only a couple of days away, and reports are flooding in about Sasha Banks making an appearance at the event.
It now looks as though New Japan Pro-Wrestling may be getting more than they bargained for at Wrestle Kingdom, with another former WWE star accompanying Sasha Banks in Japan.
Sasha Banks To Be Joined In Japan By Major Name
According to a report from PWInsider, Sasha Banks’ former tag team partner Trinity “Naomi” Fatu is set to accompany her in Japan.
It has yet to be confirmed whether the former Naomi will appear alongside Banks at Wrestle Kingdom, or if she is in Japan solely to provide support to a friend.
Sasha Banks and Naomi famously walked out on WWE during the May 16th, 2022, edition of Monday Night Raw. They were slated to compete in a six-pack challenge on the show to crown a new #1 contender for Bianca Belair’s Raw Women’s Championship. This match would not take place, however, after a disagreement over creative led to Banks and Naomi leaving the building.
The duo have not appeared for WWE since. As it stands, their last match took place on May 15th, 2022, at a house show in Roanoke, Virginia. In the match, Sasha Banks and Naomi successfully defended their WWE Women’s Tag Championships against the team of Natalya and Shayna Baszler. Nobody at the time knew it would be their last match for over eight months.
They were removed from the internal WWE roster soon after, but despite rumours about them making a sensational return to the organisation, Banks’ contract officially expired on New Year’s Day.
Now Sasha Banks’ expected appearance at Wrestle Kingdom is turning heads in the wrestling world. Alongside this, rumours are running rampant that she will appear on the January 11th edition of AEW Dynamite to join Saraya in a match against Dr Britt Baker and Jamie Hayter.
