Sasha Banks and Naomi haven’t appeared on WWE television since the May 13th edition of Friday night SmackDown where they defeated Natalya and Shayna Baszler. After appearing at the two following two live events, the pair walked out of the May 16th Monday Night Raw taping.
Following what was reported as disagreements over creative, the pair were stripped of their Women’s Tag Team Titles and suspended indefinitely.
However, since Triple H took over as Head of Creative there have been reports suggesting that a return for the pair could be imminent. Despite this, neither woman is yet to come back.
In the months following their walkout all traces of the pair were removed from WWE’s opening video packages, their merchandise was removed from WWE Shop Online, and it was even reported that Sasha Banks had attempted to get out of her WWE contract.
“Thank You Very Much For The Visit Mercedes Varnado (Sasha Banks)”
Despite generally keeping away from all things wrestling related, Banks has now been pictured at the Lucha Libre Barcelona wrestling school in Spain. A snap documenting the visit was posted on the school’s Instagram page.
In recent weeks Sasha Banks dropped the biggest hint yet that she could be done with WWE. The star changed her Twitter handle from @SashaBanksWWE to her real name – @MercedesVarnado. Her account is verified on the platform and only follows six other accounts – two fan accounts, John Cena, Naomi, Tamina Snuka, and her cousin, Snoop Dogg.
Interestingly, The Boss also sparked much speculation on social media when she shared what appeared to be a mock-up of a match poster featuring herself and former WWE star Kairi Sane. The image also featured one of New Japan Pro Wrestling’s newest titles, the IWGP Women’s Championship. Banks has already captured all of the women’s titles WWE has to offer, so this could be an indication that she’s looking further afield for her next challenge.
