It has been nearly eight months since Sasha Banks competed inside the squared circle. Her last match occurred at a WWE house show on May 15th and featured Banks and partner Naomi teaming up to defend their Women’s Tag Titles against Natalya and Shayna Baszler.
Sasha Banks and Naomi won the match, but nobody at the time knew it would be Banks’ final WWE match. Now fans look to the future as the return of “The Boss” appears imminent.
Sasha Banks Officially A Free Agent Following WWE Departure
A recent tweet from Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp has confirmed that Sasha Banks is now officially a free agent.
“Good morning. Mercedes Varnado is free to take wrestling bookings.”
This means Banks is no longer under WWE employment and can accept any bookings she wishes. At only thirty years old and very much in her career’s prime, “The Boss” is expected to step back into the ring.
The end of her WWE contract is something that Sasha Banks has clearly been waiting on with bated breath. She recently posted a video of her staying in ring shape with the help of former WCW and WWE cruiserweight Juventud Guerrera.
Sasha Banks now looks to New Japan Pro-Wrestling’s Wrestle Kingdom 17, where she has been heavily rumoured to appear. The event will take place on January 4th, and though Banks does not have a match scheduled, it is looking likely that she will have a role to play in the IWGP Women’s Championship match between KAIRI and Tam Nakano.
Banks is also rumoured to be in communication with All Elite Wrestling. On January 11th, Saraya and a mystery opponent will be taking on the team of Dr Britt Baker and AEW Women’s Champion Jamie Hayter. Not much has been said about Saraya’s partner, with just over a week until the event. Still, rumours are running rampant about Sasha Banks appearing, despite journalist Dave Meltzer recently saying that “there is no indication” she will appear.
