A new report provided further details about Sasha Banks’ upcoming convention appearance, including her asking price.
After walking out of Monday Night Raw on May 16th alongside her tag team partner Naomi, Sasha Banks hasn’t been seen on WWE television. There have been conflicting reports as to whether or not she’s still employed by the company, though many top stars are under the impression that reports of her release are correct.
On July 13th, it was announced that Banks will be appearing at Chicago’s C2E2 convention under her real name of Mercedes Varnado. Though the announcement did list “Sasha Banks” as one of her roles, it made no mention of WWE.
A report from Fightful Select revealed that multiple wrestling conventions have reached out to The Boss, but she’s stated that she won’t be taking any wrestling-related bookings until January of 2023.
In a further update, Fightful Select reports that Varnado’s asking price for the convention was $30,000, which was said to be “exactly as expected” based on demand for the star as she left on her own terms, hasn’t been appearing on the convention scene regularly, and has a passionate fan base to support her.
The report also notes that she’s one of the most in-demand “just off TV” talents and that her asking price was comparable to that of Sting. According to the promoter Fightful spoke with, the only stars with higher booking fees are Ric Flair, Goldberg, Shawn Michaels, and Hulk Hogan. The promoter was happy with the price, knowing that they’ll make the money back.
It should also be noted that the $30,000 convention booking fee is not the same price she’d charge to wrestle a match. That information is unknown at this time.
While WWE has not confirmed reports of Banks’ release, one promoter believed that they wouldn’t have gotten as far into a booking conversation as they did if she were still employed by the company.
