Saraya gets candid about why she rejected this AEW storyline pitch.
Saraya, aka Paige, parted ways with WWE in 2022 and made her AEW debut at Grand Slam on 21 September 2022. A part of Tony Khan’s promotion for almost three years now, she is also a one-time Women’s World Champion at the Jacksonville-based promotion.
Currently, a free agent and no longer under a contract with Khan’s promotion, she recently appeared in an episode of Rulebreakers podcast, and opened up on how she once rejected a romantic storyline with “Daddy Magic” Matt Menard.
In a real-life relationship with ‘Falling in Reverse’ lead singer Ronnie Radke during the time of the storyline, the former women’s champion did not feel appropriate to ‘kiss’ someone on camera.
Daddy Magic, they wanted me to do a love story line with him, and I’ve managed to go on my whole career without doing a love storyline, and I wasn’t gonna start. They were like, ‘No, all he’s gonna do is kiss you.’ I had a boyfriend at the time, and I was just like, ‘I can’t do it, you guys. I just can’t do it.’ So I turned down that. There’s not really anything storyline-wise else I’ve turned down.
It’s just like, if I have to kiss someone and I have a boyfriend, I just don’t think it’s appropriate,” she said. “I’ve never really had like them come up to me and be like, ‘What do you think of this? You want to kiss somebody today?’ I’ve never had that until I got to AEW. Then they were like, ‘Can you kiss Daddy Magic?’ I love Daddy Magic, good guy, but I just couldn’t do it. I couldn’t do it.”

While Saraya did not move ahead with the Daddy Magic storyline, his tag partner, Cool Hand Ang, became involved in an on-screen romantic angle with Saraya’s stable partner, Ruby Soho, which later turned into a real marriage. The couple is now parents to a daughter.
Saraya Opens Up On In-Ring Return Concerns
During an interview with Joe Vulpis of the Lightweights Podcast,Saraya opened up about her current ventures and when she plans to return to the ring.
“Yeah. I mean, I feel like at this age and time, there isn’t really a spot for me right now. I feel Iike everybody’s got their own thing. Eventually…I love wrestling, I will be back at work at some point. But right now, it’s good. They don’t need me. They don’t need me.”
